The Heart/Credit Connection refers to the role that financial responsibility can play in the romantic experience. myFICO.com commissioned this research so that the findings can be used to remind people of the importance of personal financial responsibility in romantic as well as day-to-day relationships.

The Heart/Credit Connection research is based on a telephone survey conducted by Opinion Research Corporation with 1,022 adults as part of its Caravan omnibus survey service. Interviewing was conducted from January 13 through January 15, 2006. 

The findings show that one third of the adults surveyed sited lack of financial responsibility as a bigger barrier in the relationship than their partner’s unfaithfulness. Who would’ve thought, huh? Further, financial integrity was also selected twice as much (22 percent) than sexual compatibility(10 percent). So, the ‘ain’t nothin’ goin’ on but the rent’ mantra does ring true for both men and women alike…for real!
